Avient Launches PFAS-Free Liquid Additives for Polyolefin Film Applications
February 4, 2026 – As an innovator in material solutions, Avient today announced the expansion of its Hiformer™ PFAS-free processing additives series to the Asian market, introducing two new liquid additives specifically designed for polyolefin film applications. These additives offer both siloxane-based and non-siloxane-based PFAS-free liquid processing formulas.

Internal tests at Avient have shown that, at ultra-low addition levels of 0.1% to 0.4%, the new Hiformer™ liquid additives significantly outperform four mainstream PFAS-free solid products in several key performance indicators. Core advantages include rapid reduction of melt fracture, excellent film transparency retention, good bubble stability (even at ultra-thin gauges), and reduction of black spots and gel formation. In three-layer high-density polyethylene (HDPE) paper-plastic composite films, the liquid formula can be used at target addition rates of 0.12% to 0.15%, eliminating sharkskin defects within 20 minutes.
In addition to excellent processing performance, the new liquid additive solutions also allow for lower processing temperatures, effectively reducing energy consumption compared to solid additives and advancing sustainability goals. The formula is compatible with standard downstream processes such as corona treatment, flame treatment, printing, and laminating, seamlessly integrating into existing production lines.
