On February 3, 2026 – As an innovator in material solutions, Avient announced the expansion of its halogen-free flame-retardant thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) product line with the launch of the OnFlex™ NHFR 7001 series, a new generation of products. Compared to Avient’s previous generation of halogen-free OnFlex materials, this new series not only enhances the flame-retardant performance of plastic products but also offers customers superior mechanical properties and cost-effectiveness.

The launch of the OnFlex™ NHFR 7001 series is designed to meet the increasingly stringent regulatory requirements and market demand for halogen-free flame-retardant materials. This series helps manufacturers comply with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) flame-retardant guidelines, meet UL 94 V-0 performance standards, and adhere to REACH and RoHS directives.
The OnFlex™ NHFR 7001 series products feature the following core characteristics:
- Flexibility: High flexibility to meet durability requirements throughout the product’s lifecycle.
- Low Leachability: Ensures long-term appearance stability and performance.
- Low Moisture Absorption: Adapts to various environments while maintaining stable performance.
- Environmental Compliance: Complies with the current EU REACH and RoHS standards.
Applications: Covers industries with stringent durability and fire safety requirements, such as automotive, electronics, consumer goods, and construction. Typical applications include plastic casing circuit breakers (MCCB) phase separators, door sealing gaskets, electric vehicle (EV) charging gun handles, and power tool battery packs.
Compared to traditional soft polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, the OnFlex™ NHFR 7001 series offers better long-term mechanical performance while maintaining the same flexibility. Additionally, compared to traditional soft PVC or halogenated flame-retardant TPE solutions, its halogen-free formulation helps reduce smoke density during combustion. The series can also incorporate recycled materials through formula adjustments, assisting customers in achieving their sustainability goals.
Hermann Fuechter, Senior Marketing and Product Manager for the EMEA region at Avient’s Specialty Engineered Materials division, stated: “The OnFlex™ NHFR 7001 series reflects our ongoing response to evolving regulatory requirements and market demands, as well as our commitment to innovation and sustainability. This series enables customers to obtain halogen-free flame-retardant thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) solutions that meet ECHA standards without compromising on performance or cost-effectiveness.”
