Evonik will showcase its latest technological achievements in the green hydrogen sector at the 2026 International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition, to be held at the National Convention Center in Beijing from March 25–27, 2026. The company will also globally debut its next-generation green hydrogen electrolysis core component, the DURAION® wide anion exchange membrane.

March 10, 2026 – Material manufacturer Covestro and Fraunhofer UMSICHT, the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology, signed a contract to jointly operate a pilot pyrolysis plant with an annual processing capacity of 2,000 tons of rigid polyurethane foam waste.

Using straw to produce plastic — this is precisely the core focus of the project that the Systems Biotechnology team led by Christoph Wittmann, together with its research and industrial partners, has been carrying out since early February 2026.
